About Ground Provisions

Ground Provisions is an intimate 9 table restaurant with a fancy little country store and wine shop. We call it a “Farm Restaurant”. It's been a longtime dream for Chefs Rich Landau and Kate Jacoby to have a country complement to their downtown Philadelphia restaurant, Vedge.

In 2010, the couple first had this vision: a special event space out in the rolling hills of Chester County's wine country. There would be a farm where vegetables would take the shortest distance possible to the table. Dishes would be simple yet sophisticated. The vibe would be "rustic elegance". A dirt floor, twinkling string lights, a long wooden farm table where guests, dressed for a fancy garden cocktail party, would gather around the table to drink and feast on the farm’s daily harvest. But in 2011 an opportunity came up they could not refuse. The couple shelved the farm project so they could open up Vedge in a sprawling historic brownstone in Center City Philadelphia. For years they never looked back. Vedge went on to national acclaim. It was one of GQ magazine's best new restaurants, it received 3 1/2 stars from Philadelphia Magazine and a 4 Bell review from the Philadelphia Inquirer, It made Eater’s first national list of the country’s Top 38 Restaurants and Food and Wine named Vedge as one of the 40 most important restaurants of the last 40 years. Chefs Rich & Kate have been nominated multiple times for James Beard awards.

When the pandemic hit and the world came to a stop, the couple caught their breath and took stock. The dream of a country restaurant and store came back front and center, and they pursued their dream relentlessly - touring barns, wineries and vineyards. old farmhouses and abandoned restaurants - looking for the perfect fit for their vision.

Nothing seemed to click until they toured the old Inn Keepers Kitchen at Dilworthtown in West Chester. Rich and Kate were instantly charmed by the welcoming front porch, the intimate, sundrenched rooms, exposed beam ceilings and space out back for a little garden, they knew they were home. Ground Provisions opened on New years eve 2022. So far so good. In August of 2023 Philadelphia magazine awarded the restaurant 4 stars.

About the Market

The Ground Provisions store showcases local organic products by artisanal farmers and crafters as well as small batch products from around the world that aren't often seen in the area. In the coolers are a small selection of prepared foods from the Ground Provisions kitchen as well as a variety of beverages and various products sourced locally and from expert makers around the country.

About the Dining Room

Dinner in our intimate 9 table dining room is by reservation only Wednesday through Saturday evenings, featuring multi course menu we like to call the “farmers feast”. We also tailor a wine pairing to accompany the menu as well as offer a terrific selection of natural wines, local beer, specialty cocktails and refreshments.

Dinner is a seasonal celebration of dishes pulling from the best that local farms and crafters have to offer, supplemented by Rich and Kate’s nearby “Lost Glove” garden. Everything is 100% plant-based, our priority is organic and local, and we compost our vegetable scraps and paper to make fresh soil.

The meal is $79 per person. It’s a casually elegant vibe - we want you to feel like guests in our home as our team prepare you a vegetable dinner from the farm.

Reservations book out 30 days in advance. Menus are updated online weekly. And please read the FAQ before booking.
